In Brief:
My goal for Text and Theology is to air considered, intellectually honest ideas in the fields of religion, philosophy, theology, and biblical studies.
Aren’t there enough bible-bloggers?
Many blogs, even those primarily about religion or the Bible, are nevertheless autobiographical and combine interests. I hope for this one to be different. I will not write about my latest movie-going experience or post pictures of my pets (and not just because I don’t have pets or go to the movies). I also hope to avoid some of the posturing and inanity that typically goes on in weblogs; or at least to temper my ignorance with some humility.
Working credo?
I’m not here as an apologist for any particular school or tradition, and I think claiming one would limit what I write about and how I approach it. In fact, I much enjoy the role of advocatus diaboli, so to speak. It’s both intellectually and existentially stimulating. I am a “believer,” but every philosophical, theological, or exegetical position I hold is provisional.
What is that cool header image?
Codex Sinaiticus, The Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts (www.csntm.org). If you’re wondering, it’s Matthew 19.

Hi Vlad –
Wow, what an interesting blog! How did you get interested in this?
Thank you very much. I was raised in a Christian household, and I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t interested.
